“Submissions to the CCRC have now been made by my lawyer Simon Mckay, his law firm has worked very hard on my case and he has also ensured the help of some of the world’s leading experts in their fields to determine that I cannot possibly have killed my family and that Sheila did - as I have always maintained.

In many ways the submissions have been a team effort involving the help of many, many different people who will remain nameless but their assistance has been invaluable. These submissions have been the result of very long periods of hard work at times often painstaking. We have also had the loyal help and support of various journalists and their part has not been forgotten without whom vital evidence would not have been obtained. All that remains is to see if the CCRC will refer my case to the court of appeal over the coming weeks or months.

I have received a letter from Essex Police telling me that they wish to apply to dispense with my complaints regarding the delay in an investigation into allegations of fraud by the company’s farm secretary Barbara Wilson. These allegations were against Peter Eaton a key prosecution witness and benefactor of my family’s estate following my conviction. The police applied the delay for some 15 months until after my first appeal simply because if the credibility of a key prosecution witness was impugned then it would have serious implications for the crowns case against me and in any event Peter Eaton was later made a company director, something which he might not have been had the allegations been investigated.

Last year Essex Police were granted a dispensation by the IPCC for complaints about misconduct in my case, stating that as the allegations were about misconduct in 1985/86 we had missed the 12 month deadline for complaints. Considering we have only just had disclosure of documents and it is now some 27 years later I think their decision is unfair and an abuse of the process in their statutory guidelines as there is a good reason for not complaining within 12 months - non disclosure, the allegations were regarding the alteration of the chain of evidence which maintains my conviction but - the judiciary would like to have it both ways, no one should be held accountable for misconduct if it were to aid the case to prove my innocence.

Jeremy Bamber to Continue Fight for Freedom in the Grand Chamber

Jeremy Bamber will take the appeal against his whole life tariff to the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights. There is more about the ruling below which was voted 4 to three that there had been no breach of article 3 of the Human Rights Convention.

'For the reasons we have set out we would find, in respect of all the applicants, inhuman and degrading treatment in breach of Article 3'. Judges Garlicki, David Thór Björgvinsson and Nicolaou

MOJUK apologies for sending out an Email on Tuesday 17th January, 'European court upholds, 'Death by Incarceration' of Jeremy Bamber, with out having read the actual judgement itself. Though not mentioned in the ECtHR press release that MOJUK circulated verbatim there were three dissenting opinions (judges Garlicki, David Thór Björgvinsson and Nicolaou) of the seven judges who determined the case. This was a very narrow decision!

Bamber, Vintner and Moore, have the option of requesting that the case is referred to the Grand Chamber of the Court and they should do so.

'If such a request is made, a panel of five judges would consider whether the case deserves further examination. In that event, the Grand Chamber will hear the case and deliver a final judgment. If the referral request is refused, the Chamber judgment will become final on that day.'

The actual decision of the court on the matter before them was as follows:

3. Holds, by four votes to three, that there has been no violation of Article 3 of the Convention in respect of Mr Vinter;
4. Holds, by four votes to three, that there has been no violation of Article 3 of the Convention in respect of Mr Bamber;
5. Holds, by four votes to three, that there has been no violation of Article 3 of the Convention in respect of Mr Moore.

Joint Partly Dissenting Opinion Of Judges Garlicki, David Thór Björgvinsson And Nicolaou

We fully share the majority view that there has been no violation of Articles 5 § 4, 6 and 7 of the Convention. However, on the Article 3 issue of inhuman or degrading treatment we conclude that there was a procedural infringement by reason of the absence of some mechanism that would remove the hopelessness inherent in a sentence of life imprisonment from which, independently of the circumstances, there is no possibility whatsoever of release while the prisoner is still well enough to have any sort of life outside prison.

Like the majority we see no problem in so far as the substantive aspect of Article 3 is concerned. A wholly unjustified or grossly disproportionate sentence could, at the time it is imposed, fall foul of Article 3. But the test is a strict one. It was described in the Canadian case of R v. Latimer [2001] 1 SCR 3 as "stringent and demanding"; and in United States v. Burns [2001] SCR 283 it was added, in an extradition context, that it must lead to the conclusion that the sentence would "shock the conscience" or violate principles of fundamental justice. As the Court pointed out in Kafkaris v. Cyprus [GC], no. 21906/04, § 97, ECHR 2008-..., a sentence of life imprisonment "is not in itself prohibited by or incompatible with Article 3". It made no difference that it was a mandatory rather than a discretionary sentence. Both may, at the time they are imposed, reflect the need for punishment and deterrence for the crimes committed and there would be no Article 3 issue on that score. The Court would, quite obviously, accord a large measure of deference to a judicial determination of sentence but both mandatory and discretionary life sentences are subject to the same overriding principle that they should not be wholly unjustified or grossly disproportionate. It should be noted, however, that in the present case nothing turns on this, for the applicants have not shown that the whole life orders imposed on them did not accord with principle.

It was made clear in Kafkaris that even in the case of a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment the whole of that sentence may be served without infringing Article 3. At the same time Kafkaris underlined that in a particular case circumstances may eventually arise that make it appropriate for domestic authorities to consider, in some way, whether continued detention would amount to inhuman or degrading treatment. The present United Kingdom provisions for compassionate leave which, subject to various conditions apply to prisoners who are terminally ill and about to die as also to prisoners who, being very severely incapacitated, are paralysed or bedridden with not much life to live outside prison walls, do not meet the procedural requirement referred to in Kafkaris. In the light of what the Court said in Kafkaris, the House of Lords accepted in R (Wellington) v. Secretary of State for the Home Department [2008] UKHL 72 that a time may come when even a discretionary whole life order may have to be looked at again to see whether the prisoner's circumstances have so changed as to render further detention inhuman and degrading.

The real point at issue in the present case lies in whether the need for a possibility of revisiting a whole life order requires that there should already be in place a suitable mechanism in the domestic system, so as to lend credence to the existence of such possibility, and thus afford a measure of hope to the convicted person; or whether, as stated in paragraphs 92-94 of the judgment, once it is accepted that the sentence was appropriate at the time it was passed, nothing remains to be said unless and until such time, if ever, as the prisoner is in a position to show that continued detention would be in breach of Article 3, whereupon the existence of such procedural mechanism may, for the first time, become relevant. Our preference is for the first alternative and it is, essentially, on this that we differ from the majority.

The majority view echoes what Lord Phillips CJ had said in R v Bieber [2008] EWCA Crim 1601, and cited with approval in R(Wellington). The following passage is from the opinion of Lord Brown (at § 82):

"Article 3 is violated only when the prisoner's further imprisonment can no longer be justified. In this I agree entirely with the view expressed by Lord Phillips in Bieber at para 43:

'Can the imposition of an irreducible life sentence itself constitute a violation of article 3, or will the potential violation only occur once the offender has been detained beyond the period that can be justified on the ground of punishment and deterrence? In other words, is it the sentence or the consequent detention that is capable of violating article 3? We believe it is the latter. We think that this is implicit from the passage of the judgment [in Kafkaris at para 107, cited at para 70 above]. As we have recorded it was the detention itself that the applicant in Kafkaris contended amounted to a violation of article 3.'

In my judgment it cannot be contended that the mere passing of a mandatory life sentence, even in circumstances where no satisfactory laws or procedures exist for thereafter reviewing the case on an individual basis to determine the actual period to be served, violates article 3."

This approach seems to us to be due, at least in part, to the guarded language used by the Court, particularly in the Grand Chamber case of Kafkaris (§ 97), when speaking about the impact of Article 3 on irreducible life sentences. It repeated that, as it had held, an irreducible life sentence "may" raise an Article 3 issue. It did not say in terms that such an issue will inevitably arise and this has been taken to mean that the Court has accepted the possibility that an irreducible sentence will pose no problem under Article 3, either substantive or procedural: see, indicatively, the opinion of Baroness Hale (at § 49) and that of Lord Brown (at § 71) in R (Wellington). The Court explained the difference between a reducible and an irreducible sentence by saying that where there was a possibility of review, by which de jure and de facto the prisoner was not deprived of any prospect or hope of release, the sentence could not be regarded as irreducible; and it did not become so merely by the fact that it may be served in full. By using the word "may" in connection with irreducible sentences and by classifying sentences as reducible where there is a de jure and de facto mechanism for revisiting them, the Court left a question mark in respect of the former. Was it contemplating a real possibility that a truly irreducible sentence could be compatible with Article 3? In what circumstances might that be conceivable when it emphasised so strongly the importance of a revisiting mechanism? In fact the Court has never held that an irreducible life sentence did not breach Article 3.

It seems to us that the Court used the word "may" in order to avoid a categorical general statement which went beyond the needs of the case when previous cases, to which it referred, had gone no further than that. We are, respectfully, unable to accept the view expressed in R v Bieber and R (Wellington), and shared here by the majority, that an irreducible life sentence can be upheld as compatible with Article 3. We are therefore also unable to accept the corollary of that view, namely that the absence of an Article 3 problem justifies the present lack of a suitable release mechanism. In our opinion it is necessary to have a suitable review mechanism in place right from the beginning. The Article 3 problem does not consist merely in keeping the prisoner in detention longer than would be justified, as suggested in the domestic judgments that we have cited. Kafkaris shows that it consists, equally importantly, of depriving him of any hope for the future, however tenuous that hope may be.

For the reasons we have set out we would find, in respect of all the applicants, inhuman and degrading treatment in breach of Article 3.

Statement from Jeremy Bamber on the European Court of Human Rights ruling

"Both the trial judge and the Lord Chief Justice set my minimum tariff as 25 years. Quite why the Home Secretary felt that I should die in jail when the judges felt otherwise is a mystery. To then be told by the European Court that it was reasonable and fair for the Home Secretary to re-sentence me to die in jail is quite extraordinary. This ruling does not really surprise me; it is no different to the injustice of my conviction.

The evidence upon which the Crown have built their case is no longer credible, yet my imprisonment must continue until I’m dead, as evidence of my innocence cannot be disclosed because the Criminal Cases Review Commission have refused to even request it from Essex Police.

I will continue to campaign to prove my innocence and I am hoping that this will happen before my death sentence is carried out.

If the State wishes to have a Death Penalty, then they should be honest and re-introduce hanging. Instead, this political decision that I must die in jail is the Death Penalty using old age or infirmity as the method. It is a method whereby I’m locked in a cell until I’m dead – no matter if it should take 70 or 80 years to happen – I shall be dead the next time I leave jail. This despite that the trial judge said 25 years was punishment enough for a crime I did not commit."

It is better to put your argument on paper and use information from our web site which can be substantiated by documentary evidence. At the moment the evidence of the pathologist which was only disclosed to the defence post 2002 appeal is a really strong new point. There is also the alibi evidence which has recently been updated, alternatively you might feel that the evidence of Sheila's body to be the strongest area.

"European Court Ruling on my Whole Life Tariff"

"I heard yesterday that the European Court of Human Rights will announce their ruling on the appeal against my whole life tariff through their web site on the 17th January 2012.

I have known for some time that there has been another case similar to mine through the European Court who ruled the whole life tariff was illegally implemented by a Government but later when it was appealed by that Government in a higher European court and they found the upgrading of a the tariff to whole life was not illegal and so it still stands. Basically this ruling may influence how the court hears my case although they are supposed to hear each case independently and the British Government is not at the peak of popularity in Europe.

My priority remains as always, to clear my name and gain my freedom for the truth to be known in a court of law is the most important thing. Maybe the judiciary can learn lessons from the failings in my case to make the justice system fairer for all. "2011 has been a year which has seen many different events for my case"

“The CCRC have agreed in principal that I should have a further extension of time for submissions up until 31st January 2012. This is to allow full forensic reports to be sent to the CCRC along with detailed submissions as planned previously. The CCRC have not elaborated on whether they will be able to disclose the Event and Scene logs that we have requested.

2011 has been a year which has seen many different and sometimes unexpected events for my case. Although I am not unused to taking knock back’s in my case, the provisional ruling not to refer my case for appeal came from the CCRC back in February and was a great surprise to us all. Fortunately there have been many avenues not already explored at the trial or subsequent appeals which we are now investigating. The addition of many documents has unearthed so much more in the case and gave the campaign renewed vigour and knowledge.

Crime scene photographs developed electronically at high resolution which have never been seen, gave us many new areas for exploration and also a greater understanding of how poorly the investigation was handled by Essex Police officers. We have been able to raise awareness of my case and also gained a great amount of public support which has often overwhelmed me with letters of kindness. But this year has also seen how the judiciary handles complaints very badly in light of the events which triggered riots and also in the collapse of the trial of police officers involved in the wrongful convictions of the Cardiff Three.

I am confident that there will be justice for me. There is a wealth of evidence prepared and presented to the judiciary in my case which has been ignored. Let’s hope the latest evidence will be heard by a court in the New Year. Eddie Gilfoyle and Sue May are also just two people who have felt frustration and the disappointment of a system which seeks to maintain wrongful convictions without considering the wider issues of innocence and a safer society through a more transparent justice system that admits mistakes and learns from them.

I have already spoken to many people and written at length on the two sound moderators in my case and how this was concealed from the jury and perverted the course of justice, the trail of fabricated evidence is plainly shown throughout forensic documents. There have also been many revelations concerning the reliability of prosecution witnesses. The uncovering of new evidence is only possible through a great amount of work by my lawyers and campaigners who help tremendously. I am confident that 2012 will see justice done and my freedom will bring the whole truth to light at last.

Latest News From the CCRC

The CCRC announced in press releases yesterday that they would be closing the deadline for submissions on the 9th of December as planned. This does not however mean that the case is closed as we had previously thought. Submissions have been prepared for the CCRC by the Defence but they are not fully complete and therefore have not been submitted owing to the CCRC's request that the Defence make one entire submission and not submit evidence piecemeal.

The CCRC have confirmed that they will possibly take months to carry out their decision making process, (how they can make decisions on material which has not been submitted remains to be seen). They confirmed that if any major pieces of evidence were submitted after the closure of the deadline, then they could possibly take those into consideration, this news surfaced after further correspondence with Defence lawyers yesterday. The CCRC have made no indication as to whether they will disclose original event and scene logs for ESDA testing, despite additional requests being submitted to them back in July this year following many years of requests for the same documentation which have been ignored.

Will the CCRC close the case on Jeremy Bamber?

The CCRC advised Jeremy that they intend to close their case on him if there are no submissions made tomorrow. The advice comes after the defence requested a extension until January. Lawyers representing Jeremy have asked if some of the submissions could be rushed through and submitted by Monday the 12th of December at the latest but it remains to be seen if these would be taken into consideration.

The Defence made requests to the CCRC back in July with letters from forensic scientists requesting to see original scene and event logs which needed to be obtained from Essex Police using Section 17 of the Criminal Appeals act. All requests were ignored. The Defence has been unable to carry out forensic work as a result.

The CCRC was not willing to take into consideration their own delays which have resulted in the defence being unable to complete forensic work. They also would not consider that Jeremy Bamber has had a change of legal representation and that the case files are considerably comprehensive.

Jeremy Bamber has raised new complaints with the IPCC and Essex Police after crime scene photographs showed police disrespect including fooling around within just feet of where there body of Nevill Bamber lay in the kitchen. Further complaints were raised last month after it was discovered that allegations of theft from the Bamber estate by a key prosecution witness in 1986 were not addressed for over 13 months, an investigation was looked into but never carried out as police felt it best to delay until after the first appeal of Jeremy Bamber.

Jeremy Bamber said this evening "I will keep fighting. I am and innocent man and I will never stop until I am a free man with my name fully cleared."

Jeremy Bamber can re-apply to the CCRC but this would put his case to the 'bottom of the pile' which is of no great significance considering the CCRC have held his case since 2004 and acheived nothing execpt to continually obstruct Jeremy in his fight for freedom.

"There is a very serious problem with the British Justice System"

“This week saw the launch of our new writing campaign to the Home Affairs Select Committee in conjunction with Susan May and Eddie Gilfoyle. I think you will agree the tactics employed by the various MOJ departments to maintain our convictions are strikingly similar. In light of recent events surrounding the police officers trial after their involvement in the cases of Cardiff Three it is very obvious that there has been, and still is a very serious problem with the British Justice system - reported to be one of the best in the world. Let’s see if we can stimulate enough interest and write enough letters to bring about a re-assessment of the various departments that deliberately block, wrangle, refuse and gag innocent people from having the right to fight their wrongful convictions, in many cases preventing them from showing the public the levels of incompetence and corruption carried out by police to obtain and sustain a conviction.

Unsurprisingly I am still waiting for disclosure of evidence from the CCRC, we made submissions at the end of July for disclosure but have received no response to the request which was supported by the testimony of a forensic scientist as justification for seeing the evidence. It is then, no surprise that the CCRC have taken 7 years to get to this point with my case.

We also have another writing campaign coming up shortly and further forensic work continues as I approach my 27th Christmas in prison. There is still no news on the decision of the ECHR on my appeal against the whole life tariff. As a result of “Crimes the Shook Britain” being aired in the UK again I’ve received many more emails and letters from new supporters offering various types of help for the campaign. I’ve already started receiving Christmas cards from friends and kind messages keep me going to my long awaited freedom.”

"I have been able to see a vast amount of case papers for the first time"

"There has been quite a lot going on over the last week, as well as new forensic work there have been considerable finds amongst the documents. I can’t disclose all of the new material for submission to the CCRC at the moment but some of it will be made available on the web site in the coming weeks. These include statements never seen by my lawyers before.

New pages on the site will include material about the how the police managed to move the scene during the photographing process. The kitchen and the master bedroom photographs and statements show events unfolding which puts parts of the jigsaw puzzle together to give a clearer picture of what really happened during and after the raid team entered the house.

The admin team plan to put new pages on to the site for me which detail a lot about the raid on the house and the state of the bodies. All material on the web site has been written by me and I will continue to do this as and when information can be made available. I have full control over my web site and blogger as well as my official twitter which gives me a sense of autonomy that I usually see little of being in prison.

As always we continue to wait for the disclosure of scene logs from the CCRC and they have not explained why this process is taking many, many months. There has been a new page added to my blog regarding a find of deep scratches in the mantle and we are currently reviewing whether to instruct further work by “marks specialists”.

Owing to large scale scanning and printing I have been able to see a vast amount of case papers for the first time ever and this permanent record will be invaluable for the future. The campaign is well planned and structured which makes allowances for all eventualities although media has taken a back seat while the new case papers have been a priority.

There has also been a renewed interest in lie detector tests after Adrian Prout failed the polygraph test and then admitted his guilt. A polygraph is not just a few questions from the examiner I spent over 100 minutes being asked questions to get many different readings up until the series of questions which are key to the test. Polygraph tests are now considered to be extremely reliable, if you would like to find out more about the questions I was asked when I passed the test click here.

Once again my friends, campaigners and lawyers have worked tirelessly with me and this is very much appreciated, many people writing to me have offered further support and often I feel overwhelmed by the amount of kindness shown by everyone."

"We never get distracted by anything which doesn't directly relate to proving my innocence"

“It’s almost five weeks until the CCRC are to make their decision on whether my case will go to appeal. I’m still waiting on disclosure of documents under section 17 of the Criminal Appeals Act. I know these documents contain my alibi. We have made the discovery of a key document from the scene which has been mysteriously re-written, so there are two versions of the same document which is an impossibility. In 1991 COLP asked the Forensic Science Service to check these documents for authenticity but Essex police did not disclose both versions of the document and the charges against the police officer who wrote the document were dropped after the ESDA examination was carried out.

There has been an enormous effort to obtain documents from different sources by my campaigners, but with it comes the work of sorting through the documents and making a permanent electronic copy is important for the posterity of my case work. Over 70 lever arch files have been scanned in the past year and there are currently still 80 A4 lever arch files awaiting scanning which are scattered about the country and this figure is about to increase further still!

There is also now overwhelming evidence that no one went in and out of White House Farm on the 7th August until the Firearms Team broke wearing open microphones so there cannot have been any mistake when they entered the kitchen and reported the bodies of a male and female. There are further accounts of officers which contradict each other and show that bungling police missed that Sheila was still alive and they pursued her through the house. They later had no reason to preserve the crime scene as they knew that Sheila had committed suicide.

There is still no news from the ECHR but to be honest I am not greatly concerned over this as I will be proven innocent in the court of appeal and receive all of the liberty and standard privileges that come with a wrongful conviction overturned. We are all working hard towards this and we never get distracted by anything which doesn’t relate directly to proving my innocence. So it won’t be long until I am a free man.”

"New evidence has surfaced from both the doctor at the scene and the pathologist"

There has been a lot happening in my case, there just aren’t enough hours in the day for myself and the teams to keep up with the vastly growing amount of work. The campaign is reaching many more people than we had imagined and this is the result of renewed efforts to directly approach academics who have directly taken an interest in my case. I am told there are plans for a new look web site too and even a new trial of the blog format. We are currently working with media who are following the detail of my case with interest and evidence will be released to these outlets in due course.

There have been many significant finds, particularly in the photographs which show an astounding amount of negligence in police handling of the crime scene. Officer’s ‘horseplay’ depicted in photographs has caused me significant distress and I am astounded and very upset by the complete disrespect shown by officers at the scene. White House Farm was not just a crime scene which should have been correctly preserved but it was the home of my family and it should have been handled with due consideration.

We have obtained ‘Master Schedules’ detailing which documents have been withheld from the defence under PII these include the handwritten statements of firearms officers who were the first into the scene. There are further accounts by officers seeing a woman’s body in the kitchen and more accounts that officer’s believed Sheila to be alive and with a firearm.

New testimony has also surfaced from both the doctor at the scene and the pathologist who noted that he “did not find it surprising that a woman of that build, in possession of a weapon possibly in a deranged state, could cause the injuries present.” When later asked if he thought Jeremy had carried out the killings he stated that Sheila Caffell would have needed to have been drugged beforehand (but tests showed that she had not been). He thought the idea of Jeremy as the murderer was “almost too incredible to believe” based on his findings at the post mortem. He also detailed that two shots to a person in a case of a suicide is not unlikely as he had seen four of five cases like this in his time.

The evidence continues to pour out and further forensic tests will be carried out in the coming weeks. We are hoping that all submissions will be completed by the 9th of December but the CCRC still have not obtained the original crime scene log we requested under their powers of section 17 of the Criminal Appeals Act 1995. Continually denying evidence contravenes human rights laws but the CCRC ignore this fact.

We also observe that in 1991 after the City of London Police visited Ann Eaton at White House Farm that she called the police saying she had ‘cleaned out the cupboard’ and discovered ‘new evidence’ which police officers must have missed during their investigation. In my opinion this was a desperate attempt to further fabricate evidence 6 long years after the tragedy. This ridiculous and unrealistic find, supports the evidence that shows my relatives fabricated evidence to convict me. We know that almost all evidence submitted to the police was found by my relatives many weeks after the crime scene was closed and not a shred of this remains unchallenged.

Further fabricated evidence also emerged in the provenance of the sound moderator, a chain of documents have been altered and Forensic Scientist statements support this. The evidence shows that both the Dickinson Enquiry and the COLP enquires were flawed and the Home Secretary was not advised of the truth in this case. The City of London Police have notified me that all of the officers who investigated Essex Police are now retired and they are unable to take action, they have referred me back to the Independent Police Complaints Authority.

Unfortunately I don’t have time to write any more but the items mentioned above are just a brief overview of the case as it unfolds. Based on the evidence showing my innocence I expect to be a free man very soon. Thank you to all of my friends and supporters who have continued in their quest to find evidence or obtain contact with further forensic teams to help me. Your letters and kind words keep me going on days when I am very tired and I hope to see you all soon.”

“My case has been making progress with the CCRC extending the deadline to enable them to allocate further original documentation for forensic analysis. At this end document analysis has been carried out owing to a new find of papers.

The number of emails received by the campaign is growing daily with people offering their help and information which often leads to new discoveries. The most exciting discovery is among the most recent finds which are many sets of documents further proving that reference numbers have been altered several times.

As a result of #freedomfortnight I have received letters from so many new people from all age ranges and backgrounds just dropping me cards and emails with kind words of support which is really lovely.

My friends and campaigners have been unwavering and we have recently employed the help of new people especially as part of #freedomfortnight. The admin team who run my document share have worked tirelessly to make electronic copies of case files and this is now almost completed, until the next discovery!

Many law schools have joined the campaign and are actively involved in studying my case and participating in #freedomfortnight which has grown into a much longer campaign than we first anticipated.

There is still no news on when my whole life tariff is to be heard in the European Court despite all submissions being submitted to the deadline of 15th September 2011.

I have also received correspondence from two documentary makers interested in producing programmes showing this new evidence, we are hoping that these productions will make it to the T.V screens but work of this type often takes a year or more in the making.

So we continue to have media interest which is helpful to anyone struggling against a miscarriage of justice and I would also like to thank MOJO newsletters who have helped raise awareness of my campaign and they continue to be invaluable to help prisoners who struggle to clear their names.”

"Freedom Fortnight" Extended to 1st October

Owing to the success of the Freedom Fortnight campaign to free Jeremy, we have been asked by Universities if we can extend the time span for to allow for their letters and emails to be sent. Unsurprisingly, Freedom Fortnight will actually have turned into a much longer campaign. We have received correspondence from a large number of supporters letting us know that they have joined the campaign.

Jeremy himself has been under a pile of mail which he has sent from Full Sutton to key organizations and has received many letters of support from new campaigners joining us. He said that the number of people contacting him on a daily basis is “a tremendous support and shows just how many people now realize the extent to which the justice system fails innocent people.”

Recent publicity saw articles in the Essex County Standard, Heart Radio Essex and BBC Look East which suggested Jeremy’s legal team had opened new lines of enquiry. One can only guess that requesting disclosure of documents for 26 years is a new line of enquiry to the CCRC, to the Defence it is merely Jeremy’s right which has been refused illegally by the CCRC for so long.

Does this actually mean that the CCRC will do their job and use their powers of the Criminal Appeals Act 1995 s17 to obtain disclosure and not continue to accept the police’s refusal to disclose material using Data Protection laws to counteract all Freedom of Information requests?

Jeremy Bamber has an alibi, half of it is already disclosed in existing material so why the delay? We suggest that at a time when public confidence in policing and government is very low another scandal to add to the long list of miscarriages of justice is being narrowly avoided.

"This week we launch our new letter writing campaign which has taken much work from both myself and a number of different campaigners who have supported me. Many have helped with the thousands of letters being sent out, many have carried out research or given a hand with legal expertise.

Some campaigners have contacts who have made a tremendous amount of difference to us obtaining evidence and presenting it in a way which will stand up in the courtroom. Many have incurred printing and postage costs and have spent hours typing or making amendments. And many have been a listening ear to the trials and tribulations of organizing such a large scale operation. We have employed the volunteer help of a large number of people and now all you need to do is send two letters to help me and change the face of British Justice forever.

We want a new and honest system that offers us all a brighter future, that is a better future for ALL victims of crime and that includes those who, like me, have been wrongly imprisoned as the result of criminal acts. Justice should no longer ignore the innocent victims but support them and carry out its role in putting right miscarriages of justice.

"There is no legal aid to fund anyone fighting a miscarriage of Justice"

Regards today’s article in the Daily Mirror about Jeremy receiving legal aid. This the figures were published by the Legal Aid board. These claims for legal aid were for Jeremy Bamber to fight his case in the High Court. The Mirror and Express just made up what the money was actually used for and invented 13 parole hearings and money to fight non-disclosure of documents. The article was highly misleading and predudicial and bundled Bamber in with people who have admitted to the crimes they are convicted of.

To fight his whole life tariff in the European Court of Human Rights for example Jeremy has received less than a thousand pounds that is a fact. It is Jeremy's human right to fight a whole life tariff illegally imposed by the Home Secretary for a crime he didn’t commit. Ironically, all of Jeremy’s Freedom of Information requests for original handwritten documentation from the scene have been turned down by Essex Police.

As a campaign we would like to make clear that there is no legal aid available to fund anyone fighting a miscarriage of justice until there is a referral to the court of appeal, this means years of fighting to get to the court of appeal with no funding at all. So, currently there is no money for legal costs. This involves finding a lawyer who will work pro-bono, finding forensic scientists who will work pro-bono, finding a QC who will work pro-bono. Many of these people give their time for nothing, they don’t even get their travel costs paid. Let’s also not forget that forensic scientists, Lawyers and QC’s often charge hundreds of pounds per hour so where those wrongly imprisoned are expected to find the money to pay for this is beyond comprehension. The chances of the CCRC making a referral to the courts without forensic evidence and sumissions from a lawyer are slim.

There is also no money to transport documents, to store documents, to make electronic files of documents. No money to build web sites, to pay for leaflets or make videos. No money for campaigners who give their time free of charge. There was no funding available for a lie detector test for Jeremy to take which he passed. Everyone who works for Jeremy towards his freedom gives their time Free Of Charge. The Daily Express also reported that Jeremy Bamber has had 13 parole hearings, how is this possible as Jeremy is on a life means life tariff, he NEVER COMES UP FOR PAROLE.

The Mirror and Express didn't take into consideration that there are no funds for fighting a miscarriage of justice and that our justice system is full proof. There are many innocent people inside our prisons today, and perhaps the journalists publishing these articles wont ever have to face a life sentence for something they didn't do.

Perhaps the Mirror and Express would like to print an article to include the fact that public money is being used to keep an innocent man in prison, and Jeremy Bamber is not the only innocent who is behind bars needlessly. If the justice system didn’t constantly sweep evidence under the carpet then there would be no costs incurred the first instance. It is ultimately public money which will pay Jeremy compensation for wasting over half his life, but the Mirror and Express didn’t consider this fact: No amount of money will bring back the 26 years of Jeremy Bamber’s life which has been taken from him unlawfully.

"Owing to the news articles in the paper’s today regarding my interview with David James Smith of the Times I felt it right I should make a response. I have not had time to write this blog myself so one of my campaigners has written it on my behalf.

Mr Cameron seems to be of the opinion that giving a prisoner who has maintained innocence for 26 years an interview with a journalist as ‘regrettable.’ What is actually ‘regrettable’ about my case are the following facts which perhaps Mr Cameron hasn’t become aware of.

My cousin’s Ann Eaton, David Boutflour and Anthony Pargeter inherited my family’s estate upon my conviction. And in fact White House Farm, where my family died, has been the rented home of Ann Eaton since the tragedy happened.

In this particular instance my family have been given a voice by the media over and over. They have helped television companies make documentaries and dramas about the case and taken part in a multitude of newspaper interviews giving their side of the story. Only in 2004 was Ann Eaton seen parading the cameras about White House Farm pointing at where the bodies of my family were found.

I have statements and police documents showing their direct involvement in fabricating evidence and this is why none of them sued the newspaper for libel over the article. David Boutflour says he found the sound moderator (key evidence) on the 10th of August and we know that was backdated from the 11th September.

Further to this, a moderator was found at the farm on the 7th August and this belonged to Anthony Pargeter. He told the police and court that he took this moderator home with him before the tragedy, but this was not true we have other statements and evidence from him saying clearly that he left his gun and moderator at White House Farm. Police merged the two moderators together and denied there was ever more than one moderator at the farm.

Ann Eaton showed the police where scratch marks were made under the mantle allegedly by the moderator, but these did not appear in the original crime scene photographs taken on the 7th of August only in those taken during September.

Even the farm Secretary Barbara Wilson made a police complaint about my family selling off assets from the farm before I had even been convicted.

Interviews like the one I did with the Times Magazine are crucial to all prisoners maintaining innocence and building a campaign for the truth to come to light. Recent events surrounding News International should not preclude this important right for those wrongly convicted. As an innocent man, fighting for freedom it is much harder than you would ever believe and the truth is buried far deeper than imaginable.

If Mr Cameron finds this incident regrettable why doesn’t he intervene to ask Essex Police why, this morning, after no less than 26 years of requests they have again (for the second time this year) turned down my requests for original handwritten statements by the first officers attending the scene? And how their reasoning is that I would only use the statements to bring a civil action? These statements contain my alibi as everybody knows.

Mr Cameron the CCRC are one of the most powerful organizations and yet they have been unable to obtain all crime scene photographs taken, leaving my lawyers with negatives cut from the original strips. They have been unable to obtain hand written logs with whole hours missing from them – during the time the police were talking to Sheila alive in the house.

The jury were not shown original documents nor were they told the truth at my trial. This matter was addressed by a Conservative MP in the Houses of Parliament in 2005 and still we have not received disclosure. This is just one tiny part of the evidence in my case, there is simply too much to go into here including police corruption but for 25 years since my conviction I am appealing to you . . . . . Is this justice Mr Cameron?”

Another Anniversary for Jeremy

Another anniversary for Jeremy … the 26th anniversary of the deaths of Nevill, June, Sheila, Daniel and Nicholas … and another anniversary that Jeremy is forced to remember within the confines of a Category A prison. Anniversaries are times when we remember … we turn our thoughts back to the beginning … whether it’s a birthday, a wedding anniversary or the year’s mind of a death.

In Jeremy’s case it is five deaths … most of us thankfully will never have an anniversary like that. And as we all know these tragic deaths have almost been obscured by the deliberately protracted legal processes as well as the various debates in the public arena. Mostly we can spend our year’s mind anniversaries in a contemplative way perhaps with loved ones where we can recall special memories which may make us laugh or cry or just muse quietly.

Jeremy has some wonderful memories of each of his deceased family and he has shared some of those memories with his close friends. It would be wholly inappropriate to put any of those precious recollections into this blog but each of us who know Jeremy well will spend a lot of today thinking about him and his much loved family and we will become even more determined to work with this remarkable man in the quest to secure his freedom from the injustice which has been done to him.

For today though, let us remember Nevill, June, Sheila, Daniel and Nicholas and let us quietly support Jeremy as he remembers.

Complaints About Malpractice in Public Office

There will be a letter and email campaign coming up, we know it has taken some time to organize but it has been very important to get it right. In Jeremy's case, as most readers will already know, there has been a considerable amount of police corruption which has not been addressed by the relevant Government departments. Without an effective investigation Jeremy's conviction has been able to be sustained.

Below is an interesting article from earlier this year which has been added to by the current revelations about police corruption. It remains clear that police misconduct was and still is virulent within our forces.

Police officers sacked in private hearings

Almost 160 police officers are sacked each year after private misconduct hearings, a freedom of information request has revealed.

Police forces across Britain have dismissed 477 officers in hearings behind closed doors over three years, data collected by The Times showed. The newspaper said the subjects of the hearings ranged from perverting the course of justice to criminal activity and breaches of discipline. The data showed that as a result of the hearings, 52 officers were demoted and hundreds fined or reprimanded. The newspaper said many of the accused are suspended on full pay or placed on restricted duties for long periods of time.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has the power to order public hearings. After the conclusion of the Ian Tomlinson inquest, the watchdog ordered that Pc Simon Harwood - the officer who pushed the newspaper seller to the ground shortly before his death at the G20 protests - must have his gross misconduct hearing heard in public.

“A quick bulletin on where we are in the case. Many newly discovered documents have come to light and this shows the level of deceit carried out by police officers. The police resignations in the phone hacking scandal illustrate that some police officers do lie, they do deceive and take bribes and their work as public servants is not always impartial.

There have been many new finds which prove that the scratches on the mantle were fabricated over a month after the original crime scene pictures were taken. As we already know the issue of two sound moderators is now resolved and fully proven. There was one person who has come forward with valuable documentation as a result of the team appealing for new information and this has been terrific.

One of the problems in proving my innocence has been obtaining documents from Essex Police. I am still currently awaiting yet another request for documents which is being ‘handled’.

There are also so many documents under PII which even the CCRC would not be allowed to hand to my legal team. Nevertheless over the years there have been many slips by the police who have accidentally sent out up to 5 different copies of the same documents which the Police would not have wanted us to see. This means that legally once released generally can no longer be considered PII.

Owing to unforeseen circumstances we began to look at documents which had been dispersed to different people over many years. The persistence of many people working for me has made a huge difference in obtaining these and work on these documents has made the case shift considerably.

The CCRC’s regulations on the photographs which my lawyer had to sign has caused considerable delays, each person in the forensic chain has had to sign a similar undertaking before being allowed to see them.

Without saying too much one would ask “What is in these 175 photographs, never seen by the Defence that is of such concern to the Ministry of Justice.” All photographs of the deceased apart from some of Sheila Caffell have been disclosed before. Why does the CCRC feel that pictures of the gun cupboard, back door and kitchen mantle should be subject to such strict regulation?

There are so many people working with me and offering professional services free of cost and this has made a really big difference to the campaign and the speed at which I can make the new submissions.

Along the way I have made many new friends and continue to do so with letters arriving from new supporters every day from around the globe. This is owing to the programme Crimes That Shook Britain which has been aired internationally. Not forgetting the numbers of loyal friends who have helped me along the way – I could not have got this far without you.”

European Court Appeal of Whole Life Tariff

This morning in a letter to Jeremy Bamber the European Court of Human Rights confirmed that the closing date for their hearing is the 15th September 2011. After this date a decision will be made as to whether Jeremy's illegally imposed whole life tariff will be put back down to 25 years. If the court rule in favour of Jeremy Bamber then he will be eligible for parole which is likely to be viewed favourably and with urgency owing to the fact that he has already served almost 26 years for a crime he did not commit.

Submissions Deadline Extended

Jeremy Bamber heard today that the CCRC have extended their submissions deadline from the 22nd July 2011 to 9th September 2011. The extension is to allow work to be carried out that has been delayed as a result of the complex and exhaustive permissions process.

"Apologies that there hasn’t been much case news of late but we have been facing a few delays in some areas relating to permissions from the CCRC but I can’t go into details about this. However, the team are taking advantage of the time we have left and have worked extremely hard on further documents.

I have been working late into the night on my case in preparation for further revelations as a result of documents the Defence have never seen before. Many of these were kept from me under old regulations and when the Freedom of Information act came into force I recently have been able to obtain a number of further records easily.

Although these new finds have made a huge difference to my case, and I know my freedom is now very close as a result, there are still documents which are being withheld. I am currently awaiting documents from my second Freedom of Information request this year and anticipate that Essex Police will come up with more excuses as to why I cannot have access to documents that provide vital evidence in my case.

The past week has been an interesting one with the Police in court over the framing of the Cardiff Three, sadly Yusef Abdullahi has not lived to see these criminals brought to justice which has been far too long in coming.

Again the phone hacking scandal has raised questions over the honesty and integrity of many police officers. Recent events show that this sort of corruption and bribery has continued throughout our justice system since the 1970’s at least.

For me freedom is just around the corner now, but we are behind on our letter writing campaign which has been delayed as a result of further submissions taking precedence over this latest push.

Submissions to the European Court regarding my whole life tariff have also been completed. I am extremely pleased with the work submitted by my legal team and I am sure that the illegally imposed whole life tariff will return to its original 25 years so I will be eligible for parole. I do think it unlikely that my freedom will come through this route as my conviction will be overturned before then.

I will not be striking any deals and I will not be gagged, the truth will be known and I will continue to speak it freely.

Once again I want to thank those people who have proudly stood by me and remain resolute in fighting alongside me for justice. You will not be forgotten and I will join you all on the outside as a free man in no time at all".

Ministry of Justice Gag prisoners fighting Miscarriages of Justice

In a disgraceful move regulations were changed last year preventing Jeremy and others like him from speaking to journalists on the phone or in face to face interviews for fear that the truth about Jeremy's case and others like them will become known. This is a deliberate act to stop prisoners wrongly convicted gaining public support.

In contrast to this human right to oral uncensored contact with journalists the MOJ have made it considerably more difficult for innocent prisoners to talk to journalists.

Prisoners: Mass Media

Priti Patel: To ask the Secretary of State for Justice (1) how many times (a) Ministers and (b) officials in his Department have authorised prisoners serving a sentence for each type of offence to contact the media in each of the last five years; [61753]

(2) if he will take steps to ensure that prisoners contacting the media without authorisation are given sanctions; [61754]

Mr Blunt: Prisoners are required to seek permission for contact with the media only if doing so by telephone or face to face interview and in consultation with Ministry of Justice Press Office. They do not require permission to contact the media by written correspondence. Prior to a change in policy in July 2010, all decisions on applications for contact by telephone or face to face interview were made locally by governors and no central records were collated. This information could therefore be provided only at disproportionate cost. Since July 2010 only applications for face to face interviews have had to be referred to the Ministry of Justice Press Office for approval on behalf of the Secretary of State for Justice. There have been no decisions to allow an interview in this time.

Prisoners who breach the rules relating to contact with the media will be dealt with under internal disciplinary procedures and face additional monitoring of their communications.

"Everything you do to help is important in our fight for Justice"

An update on my submissions to the CCRC things are going really well and we have uncovered many key pieces of evidence as the team have been very resourceful in obtaining documents which we haven't ever seen before. This has now put us ahead with the case and we are further awaiting the findings of forensic specialists. After the development of 402 case photographs (but not every photograph held by Essex Police) we have made some remarkable discoveries which will add to my new submissions.

The campaign continues to push the boundaries further and more and more people are on board including a number of volunteers with legal backgrounds and forensic expertise. I feel honoured that so many people have come forward to help me with the work load and asses new documents never seen by my Defence, in my fight for justice I always remember that you NEVER know what is just around that corner and in this case it has proven to be true.

The documents held on our share have grown into a huge resource which after my release will be donated to various law schools for case studies in return for their work in helping me fight my case for freedom.

I have realized in the past few months just how many people care about me, support me and my fight for justice and this is a sign that our society does care about justice for the wrongly convicted despite so many cases being buried.

My lawyers have prepared a case for my whole life tariff to be heard after the final submissions to the European Court of Human Rights in August this year.

So the 22nd of July is approaching and it will be a whole year since the CCRC started their decision making process where they disallowed more submissions. At least this way the extra year has enabled us to unearth so much more through so many different resources and not long from now we will look back on this work as a time of great achievement.

I've been behind on my letters to people so please bear with me. I really appreciate your notes and kind words and also all of the support each person offers in their own way, because every single thing you do to help is important in our fight for justice.

"The CCRC have done nothing to help me obtain these documents since taking on my case"

“I have today received another letter from Essex Police refusing to release documents from my case not disclosed in 26 years. It is very clear that what these documents contain is my alibi. We know that the police were talking to Sheila in the house and that she was alive when they broke down the door. The information we have warrants full disclosure.

Original notebooks from the firearms team who first entered the house are requested along with handwritten statements as there are so many edited versions. There were 22% at the most recent count but the work on this is not yet finished. There is no legal reason why these documents should not be released using the freedom of information act, if there is nothing to hide why not release these documents to settle the argument?

The CCRC have done nothing to help me obtain these documents since taking on my case. I have even offered to pay for the police to carry out the work to obtain the material I need. Questions need to be asked about what kind of justice system operates in the UK today, but more on this another time. I’m back to my case work and the new applications are very compelling. “Just a quick update on my case as there have been some exciting developments both in the forensic science work and also in the preparation of legal documents from the evidence we hold. We can now prove 100% that there were two sound moderators obtained by police at different times and that the City of London Police enquiry knew this back in 1991, this of course was established through a number of different means including witness testimony.

We also know that the Essex Police Dickinson Enquiry of 1996 was deliberately lied to about the number of crime scene photographs in existence.

There is a now a network of people working on my behalf which makes up the equivalent level of work which would usually be done by a law firm. In cases like mine the innocent have no financial resource or legal aid for submissions to the CCRC. Many of these cases go unnoticed and the injustice of British justice is left unchallenged.

When I am a free man I will take steps to alter the way cases like mine are handled and I will expose the ways in which organizations like the CCRC manipulate their own roles to suppress some of the most terrible abuses of public trust carried out by government organizations.”

“I’ve not had a lot of time to write to friends and campaigners over the past weeks and I apologize for that as I have spent almost every free moment working on my case documents. The new submissions to the CCRC won’t just be about the photographs from the crime scene. Although the appeal against the CCRC’s provisional statement of reasons will be quite narrow each area will be covered in great detail and explored in depth. There have been key discoveries in the past few weeks some of which can also stand independently of the photographic work and other findings which also support it.

In light of recent media surrounding my case I would like to say that the best written and most factual articles are constructed by people who have taken considerable time to gather materials and used first hand evidence from my case. Articles which have been positive for my campaign have used evidence which has undergone rigorous scrutiny by lawyers before publication. When someone is convicted of an offence and serving a sentence it is easy to say anything to their detriment without undergoing the same level of examination on writing an article. Journalists like Scott Lomax, Eric Allison, Mark Townsend, Simon Hattenstone and Johnny McDevitt to name but a few have approached my case with a great deal of caution in light of my conviction, and it is only sight of documentary evidence which allowed them to publish the articles they have. It is also difficult to make any interpretation of the events that happened inside White House Farm on the night of the killings, but whatever interpretation is attempted must be based around evidential findings and not supposition. The release of the photographs which are held at the CCRC is a step towards my freedom and after three months of stalling the CCRC have applied restrictions to the images which makes it very difficult for documentary makers to follow the events of my campaign. This is a deliberate action by the CCRC to put a limitation on publicity after they were overwhelmed with thousands of letters of complaints and approaches to their offices by campaigners in person. In trying to stifle my support and ultimately restrict my freedom the CCRC are building barriers around all cases of miscarriages of justice because of the fear that the public might eventually know of the abuses of those in public office.

People who are supporting me now are fully aware that one day it could be them or their father, mother, sister, brother or child in my position, and in order to fight for a better justice system for all we must pull together in our actions. In the next couple of weeks there will be a letter writing campaign in two key areas, both letters will appear on my web sites and I would like people to use these as either a template or source for their own correspondence to only two key recipients.

Those of you who read Bob Woffinden’s article yesterday might want to consider the following:

How does a telephone found by a witness during September over a month after the killings counteract the following evidence which he did not assess when making his judgements:

•It doesn’t illustrate that Sheila was not alive in the house
•It does not counteract the testimony of officers calling to her as they heard her moving around
•Why doesn’t his investigation show that Sheila was not found downstairs in the kitchen
•What of the numerous independent logs stating that the body of a man and a women were found in the kitchen is he proposing that a woman dead for over seven and a half hours moved herself upstairs from the kitchen?
•How does it counteract the conversation with someone inside the farm?
•What about the police outside for almost four hours with a megaphone?
•And of the movement in the window seen by Bews?
•How does he explain the ‘siege’ situation?
•How does the phone explain a dead woman bleeding for over seven hours photographed with her blood still wet?
•And what about the hour missing from the radio logs at the scene why would that be?
•What about the handwritten statements and pocket books from the scene which remain undisclosed?
•How does a telephone in the 2002 appeal ruling have any bearing on evidence released since 2004?

And of course finally why doesn't Bob address the sound moderator which was found tampered with and all of the documents backdated. How can one sound moderator be in two places at once?

Remember Bob did not present a piece based on balanced research, he did not have access to the comprehensive number of Defence documents, despite us offering them to him several times.

An engineer took away one of the phones from the farm

We were disappointed to see the article in the Mail by Bob Woffinden. I would like to say that he has not had access to any of the case documents that we hold, despite us offering them to him. I dont understand what has made him change his view point because it certainly is not 'new' evidence.

There had been problems with the phones at WHF because of a storm and an engineer took away one of the phones from the house and this is why the phones were moved around. The idea that Jeremy put on a wet suit is ridiculous to say the least and is something that Robert Boutflour suggested in his diary. It's a shame that Bob has written this article but I guess he was easily misled without looking at the original documentary evidence.

Key Negatives to Ensure the Freedom of Jeremy Bamber

Jeremy’s lawyer and a member of the Forensic Science Service will have to sign a disclaimer that the photographs released to them will not be used in the media. This will be the first time that all of the disclosed negatives at the CCRC will have been released to a laboratory for high resolution images to be made. Previous disclosure by the CCRC involved only one forensic scientist examining them at the CCRC offices in Birmingham as they would not permit the images to leave their possession.

Jeremy is very happy with the decision which has taken then CCRC three months a needless time period given that the request is usually standard procedure. Jeremy and his supporters have fought tirelessly to get disclosure from the CCRC. Essex Police are still in possession of further negatives which have been deliberately cut from the crime scene strips and this was denied by Essex Police head of Photography Mr Eastbrook.

The release of the negatives from the CCRC comes after intervention by student groups, media and members of the public demanding the release of this vital evidence showing a number of discrepancies which include, photographs of the x-ray’s of Sheila Caffell’s neck with a fragmented bullet which was produced as a whole bullet at trial. Also included in these pictures are shots of the replacement backdoor which was photographed during the SOCO search of the house and never mentioned to the Defence, there is no record of who carried out the work on the door just feet away from where the body of Nevill Bamber was still present.

There are also pictures of the gun cupboard never released which should show the sound moderator later ‘found’ by relatives. There are further pictures detailing Sheila Caffell with the gun in no less than 4 different positions on her body. Further pictures of the mantle showing that there were no scratches present on the 7th of August but by the 12th September scratches made during the ‘alleged struggle’ in the kitchen had appeared mysteriously.

There has also been a final attempt to obtain key documents withheld by Essex Police, in some cases this is the third freedom of information request made by Jeremy Bamber. Unfortunately the CCRC has not been able to fulfil its role in getting the relevant documents from them.

It is not a question of if Jeremy is released but when.

“It all seems as though it has been very quiet recently but there has been a lot of work going on behind the scenes. The team have recruited a number of extra people to help with the overflow of work and these new volunteers range from typists to forensics companies. I’m currently working with two universities on projects and one of them has offered me free use of all of their forensic facilities in exchange for all of my case documents upon my release.

Just a year after its inception the document management system is now bursting at 3 Gig capacity and the team are making alternative arrangements for the storage of the evidence as I am told it has grown much more complex and difficult to manage. The new system will make uploading, storage and sharing much quicker and easier and allow more efficient search facilities. My legal guys are really pleased about the use of electronic documents becoming even easier. This new system will also allow for further growth as there is a new batch of 30 box files not seen by the Defence for a number of years. The team have done a good job so far in obtaining documents from disparate sources.

The CCRC have not yet come back to my solicitor about whether an extension on the 6th May deadline will be permitted. However, as the CCRC have not allowed the Defence access to any photographic negatives in order for the forensic work to be carried out, how can I make a full appeal against their decision? I don’t see how they can refuse an extension.

The letter writing campaign of yesterday is continuing throughout this week and I am told that letters have been written in their thousands by universities now supporting me. Together with the face book campaign and the mailing list from the consultancy, this should make up a large number of people, in fact larger than I could ever have imagined which is very kind of everyone to support me. I think this is not just about my case but it is a sign of the times that a miscarriage of justice can happen to anyone at any time and that the truth has now been realized that there are many people in prison today who are wrongly convicted and more often than not this is the direct result of police corruption.

I have been working until very late some nights on other evidence which will be submitted to the CCRC, this of course is not directly related to the evidence contained within photographs as we don’t have those. Both my lawyer and QC are working hard to ensure the release of photographs to our forensic laboratory, but the case is much bigger than just these photographs alone.

The coming weeks are set to be interesting as I am waiting to hear back from many different authorities as a result of complaints which have been made by myself. Honestly, the pictures is actually looking very good despite the sluggishness of the CCRC in releasing negatives. I wish I could say more about the evidence we now have and what this means for my case. But all I can say is, I will be released, the evidence will be acknowledged and my freedom will change the face of British Justice forever.”

“I would like to say thank you to Title Role Productions who produced the documentary on my case which was aired over Sunday and Monday evenings. This is the first time that a strong and true account of my case has been broadcast in a documentary. I’ve not seen the programme but I have heard that it was very good and I’m really pleased that the truth can now be seen by so many people. Many thanks to Andrew and Sarah for their work with the production team. I have had a number of new people writing to me as a result of “Crimes that Shook Britain” which I understand is up for a regional award.

I am told that in the content of the programme DI Miller says that Sheila was found with the gun lying on her body, but we have his pocket book which states the gun was found alongside her - another Essex Police anomaly.

There has been some discussion over which negatives the CCRC are to release to my Defence team and this process has held up the forensic work unfortunately. We have though applied for an extension which we hope will be looked on favourably.

The point I would like to make about the CCRC’s provisional judgement is that they do not state that there are scratch marks on 7th August the crime scene photographs. They merely rely on the testimony of a different expert in a different field from photometry who states that Peter Sutherst’s methodology was inaccurate. If they were able to prove the scratches were on the mantle on the 7th August their own expert would have stated so in his testimony and he didn’t so draw your own conclusions.

I believe the CCRC know, as well as Essex Police, that the scratch marks are not in the original crime scene photographs. But the CCRC have to test out specialist forensic evidence and this is an important part of their work. Imagine if we had gone to an appeal court and lost on this point?

Witnesses have continued to come forward and many of these are still being looked at, unfortunately many accounts can only be considered as hearsay evidence and these can’t be used in court but there are others where we have obtained both documentation and first hand testimony.

I also received a mention in Inside Time magazine which is distributed throughout UK prisons. My admin team has set up a testimonials site which I have found very heart warming. I do hope that in the coming weeks we will see a speedy conclusion to my case as I am keen to see those who fabricated evidence arrested and charged as soon as possible so they can start their jail terms.”

"The 1980’s was a time when policing was at its very worst"

“I understand that as part of their ‘Justice Season’ BBC4 ran a programme called ‘Retrial by TV: The Rise and Fall of Rough Justice’ we don’t get this station in Full Sutton unfortunately but I have been told about the programme and read some reviews on it. At the end of the programme what became clear was that there is now room for another ‘Rough Justice’ style of programme.

Although the CCRC carry out these types of investigations, their work and the processes they apply to claims of wrongful convictions is never made public, even though it is public money which is used to fund these investigations. It is also unfortunate that the CCRC is underfunded and as result many people have to wait for several years for their case to be fully reviewed by the Commissioners. Although the CCRC does carry out valuable work by way of testing the validity of a claim of innocence before it gets to the appeal court. I am hoping that an independent T.V station will pick up the ‘Rough Justice’ baton and push ahead with uncovering cases that perhaps the CCRC might have overlooked.

The problem for many prisoners claiming miscarriages of justice is that they are often clueless as to where to start looking for evidence, they are unaware of legal processes or their own rights in terms of what can and cannot be released to them. It is often very difficult for these prisoners to get legal representation as legal aid is not available until there is a referral from the CCRC to the appeal court. Often this means needing the time, money and expertise to carry out work on the evidence. Whether this is done in the prisoner’s cell or done using campaigners and forensics experts on the outside, this can prove extremely difficult. During the first few years of my prison life I was absolutely clueless as to what to do about my wrongful conviction, many, many lawyers and forensics company’s would not even respond to my letters and I felt hopelessness and despair.

Raising public awareness of the individuals cause is paramount to those who will wait for many years before getting the vital help they need to build a strong enough case for the courts. The work of the ‘Innocence Project’ by the University of Cardiff is just one example of how outsiders can help those wrongly convicted but there needs to be more of this and an affiliation of those types of campaigners all working in the same direction. Sadly, I believe that we are almost right back where we started because at present the public have no idea that there are so many wrongful convictions in the UK and tax payers put their faith in the judicial system as a whole which is largely flawed.

As for my case news, I have also discovered from documents and photographs that show after the police broke down the back door at White House Farm they employed a carpenter to come and replace the whole door during the time the police were carrying out forensic examination of the house. I cannot help but feel further shock that not only were 43 officers present and during training exercises using my dead family in situ, but the carpenters were traipsing around the downstairs replacing a door. As ‘The rise and fall of Rough Justice’ showed (which included testimony from retired Police Chief’s,) the 1980’s was a time when policing was at its very worst.”

Campaign Gears up for further Submissions to the CCRC

Jeremy’s document management system has now crept into its thousands with new uploads happening every week. We have also been keeping in touch with various media outlets regarding Jeremy’s case and this is often frustrating as both Jeremy and his legal team have requested that his campaign remain low profile for the time being.

Please note that if you write to Jeremy you should include your name and address. If he receives letters without addresses he is not allowed to have them in his possession. He really enjoys hearing from everyone so keep writing even though Jeremy’s response is a little slower these days owing to the amount of case work he does at present.

Innocent Eddie Gilfoyle pointed the finger at Ken Clarke in his interview with the press from the House of Lords on Tuesday. He said that Clarke had tried to cover up the 'dishonesty' of police and prosecutors that he claims led to his conviction after they put a gagging order on him and then removed it. His lawyer added that despite him having made an application to the CCRC in August he is still awaiting a case manager to be assigned. Read more here

"Maintaining innocence over 26 years accounts for nothing"

“I was disappointed by the “Moral Maze” debate programme on Radio 4 which I was able to listen to and I believe there was a lack of consideration for any individual who is innocent of the crimes they have been convicted of as there was no discussion on this topic. Of course I do feel for the victims of crimes and justice for them is important. But the main point of discussion concerned my own life and the morality of a whole life tariff and yet I had not been invited to comment on the programme in any way.

Maintaining innocence over 26 years accounts for nothing in the penal system. How can I ‘reform’ when I won’t admit the crimes I am convicted of carrying out because I am innocent? The system is designed to beat me down on every level and ultimately give me the death sentence just by using old age as the means. The issue of the European Court ruling is actually quite complex and if I find the time I would like to blog something on this further.

Again we have had a number of interesting responses from people coming forward to offer help and information on my case, unfortunately we cannot speak about these for legal reasons but I am surprised by the response and the accuracy of information. There are one or two ‘wild cards’ but we are still busy sorting through information.

Scott Lomax has very kindly agreed to write a regular piece for my web site with the very latest on my case as I am in regular contact with him I know he will give an interesting and different slant on my news and add a great new element to the web site, so thanks to Scott for helping out, you will see his first piece appear in the next couple of weeks I believe.

I’m almost up to date on my letter writing but I am afraid my responses to friends have been rather short as I am currently working with forensics companies on the further submissions in my case which have to be in accordance with the CCRC guidelines. There are many plans afoot, both myself and my legal team (which includes newly assigned forensics teams), have a clear focus on the way forward and an understanding of the requirements to get my submissions to the appeal court.

A lot of work can only be brought about by the kindness and professionalism of others and I want to say a big thank you to these people. I’m also really proud and moved by the resilience of supporters in the face of adversity and there is some tremendous effort being done by so many loyal friends to spread the word about my miscarriage of justice. What about the impact of the whole life sentence on a wrongly convicted prisoner?

BBC Radio 4’s ‘Moral Maze’ discussed the issue of whole life tariffs for prisoners. There were different areas for discussion including the possibility that an individual could be become a reformed character and the question arose as to whether that person should be released into society.

Considering that producers used Jeremy’s case as 'Headliner' for the show, they mentioned his case once very briefly. Not Michael Buerk nor anyone from BBC Radio 4 bothered to contact Jeremy Bamber or his legal team, or any of his campaigners to ask for their input on the programme which lasted for 45 minutes. This programme seems to have been brought about as there are three appeals currently awaiting a ruling in the European Court of Human Rights, the most high profile of course is Jeremy’s.

Areas which they did not open for discussion included the possibility that the person who received the whole life tariff might be innocent and what would the ‘moral implications’ of this be? Why did the BBC not invite anyone to speak on Jeremy’s behalf? Jeremy is the person who is affected mostly by this ruling and who has consistently maintained innocence over almost 26 years at the hands of a politically run judicial system.

There was much discussion about the victims of crimes and the impact upon them. But what about the impact of the whole life sentence on a wrongly convicted prisoner?

The BBC’s 'Moral Maze' falls very far short of having morals itself in its own promotion and ethics concerning the discussion topic, and at the end of the discussion had woven the speakers into a very poor labyrinth of un resolve, which is to be expected of course, but if the objective is not clear from the outset the conclusions drawn and the path leading to those conclusions will not be a balanced one.

Perhaps the ‘Moral Maze’ might want to open discussion on the social responsibility and duty to the public by the police and their ethics and morals in placing more than 340,000 documents under Public Interest Immunity, not allowing Jeremy Bamber to use these to further prove his innocence.

"My case is stronger than it has ever been"

“Thanks for all of your letters which are still streaming through to me and to be honest I have been overwhelmed with them in the past two weeks and I am trying my best to keep on top so if you’ve not heard from me don’t worry - you will soon. I like to write substantial letters if I can but just recently I’ve had to write shorter ones to keep up so apologies if my letters are shrinking. I also wanted to say how good it has been that so many people are united with myself and the campaign now and that we are all working in the same direction.

The new submissions to the CCRC will be narrower than before but strongly supported by forensic evidence. I am really optimistic that my case will be referred back to the court of appeal when the new submissions are made by 6th May, although it is not clear whether the CCRC would make the decision then or not, but they have been helpful in providing us with extra time for preparations owing to the complexity of my case.

We have also had a good response from the appeal for new information and witnesses and we are currently examining these in more detail with the permission of those who came forward.

I have also been approached by further media outlets and these include a number of documentary makers, authors and journalists internationally. At the moment my media profile will remain low but the team will continue to tweet and blog on my behalf as much as possible and no doubt they will dig about for some interesting stuff from the archives to give background to my case.

I have also heard from a number of experienced professionals offering help of every kind from the legal and forensic science services right through to those with contacts in various organizations. The kindness shown by everyone wishing me well is very heart warming.

We are nearly at the end of the journey now and it has been a long haul but my case is stronger than it has ever been and this is because of the increased amount of work being put in by everyone in every different way. Progress in the European Court

Jeremy has asked us to announce that there will be another month at least before there is a decision on his whole life tariff in the European Court of Human Rights. He has been informed that his case passed the next stage of their process and he will give us further information on this over the coming week.

As you might be aware, Jeremy was sentenced to 25 years but the tariff was increased during the sentence to whole life. It is illegal in European Law to alter the 'goal posts' and if the sentencing judge wanted Jeremy to service a whole life tariff it should have been served from the outset. If the tariff were put back down to 25 years then Jeremy would be eligible for parole if this was granted he could be released within weeks as he served almost a year on remand.

Progress with the submissions of forensic evidence back to the CCRC for their three month deadline is moving swiftly and the case grows ever stronger.

Jeremy has also made an appeal for anyone to come forward who might have information on his case which would help. This would include first hand testimony from police officers, witnesses or contemporaneous documents. Psychological findings on Jeremy Bamber

“As a high profile case, a category ‘A’ prisoner, and a whole life tariff prisoner I have undergone a number of psychological assessments by twenty seven different psychologists. Each carried out numerous tests on me and some interviewed me for twenty hours or more over many weeks.

The most recent assessment of me was carried out last in 2009 by Professor Vincent Egan a Chartered Clinical psychologist and senior lecturer in forensic psychology at Leicester University. He was provided with my complete psychological file and all my medical records. He also interviewed me, and I completed various psychological tests before he wrote his report on me.

His conclusion is that I am not a psychopath. During the last quarter of a century and twenty seven different psychologists, not a single one of these experts has concluded that I show any traits consistent with psychopathy.

On the ‘Hare’ psychopathy test it was concluded that 95% of the population show more psychopathic traits than I do. I have also had 3 P.C.L.R tests that are designed specifically to reveal psychopathy and all 3 concluded the same, I am not a psychopath. Nor do I have any personality disorder."

"The CCRC's provisional document"

"The CCRC's provisional document of course outlines the detail for their decision. This document provides the Defence team with information on how to further approach the case so that preparations can be made to bolster the evidence set out initially.

This has been frustrating for me as the CCRC stopped me from submitting more evidence in July last year, then they took over six months to make a provisional judgement on Friday and now they have given another three months before a final judgement. The advantage now is that the document finally presents clarity to myself and my legal team. Three months is not a long time to prepare evidence from forensic specialists but it is possible and there will be a number of submissions from highly reputable and experienced experts with whom we have already made arrangements.

Requests from the media to see the provisional judgement of 89 pages in response from the CCRC have presently been declined as it cannot currently be made public for legal reasons. The very brief overview below is the only indication I can give which roughly outlines the contents.

I have also had a number of emails both direct to me through emailaprisoner.com and to my campaign team from well wishers and outraged individuals who are as shocked as I am to find that the evidence submitted so far (almost 200 pages) has been knocked back. I appreciate all of your concern, support and assistance offered to me.

I feel very positive as now I will finally be allowed to submit the evidence I wanted to back in July and this is very strong material. I know my conviction cannot and will not be sustained by the DPP with this new evidence. I will be a free man again very soon."

Provisional Judgement

Please note that this is a provisional judgement and Jeremy has been given a further three months to submit more material. This is not a problem as there is a lot of material that the Defence were not allowed to submit to the CCRC after they started their decision making process back in July. New evidence will include forensic specialists from many different fields including photographic software and ballistics experts.

The CCRC have issued their grounds for not referring Jeremy Bamber’s case back to the appeal court these are the main points stated in their documentation.

• Fragmented bullet swapped from Sheila Caffell’s body – CCRC said this was available at trial and therefore cannot be used.

• Photographs showing Sheila Caffell’s body had been moved were not accurate as the police officers on the scene all made statements saying that they didn’t touch or move anything and this is stronger evidence than the photographs.

• Photographs showing that the gun was moved on Sheila Caffell’s body were also inaccurate as the police officers on the scene all made statements saying that they didn’t touch or move anything and this is stronger evidence than the photographs.

• No response to the documentation still held under Public Interest Immunity, 340,000 documents.

• No response to negatives still not released to the defence now totalling over 211.

• No mention of the evidence showing that Peter Eaton, Ann Eaton, David Boutflour and Robert Boutflour’s statements conflict with contemporaneous dates showing when the sound moderator was found which was 34 days after the killings and not 3 days after as they said in court.

• No mention of the nail polish chipped from Sheila Caffell appearing at the ‘alleged’ struggle in the kitchen

• No mention about the two sound moderators and how these were merged together by police officers.

• The CCRC found another photometry expert who questioned Peter Sutherst’s methodology in establishing that the scratch marks were not present in the original crime scene photographs. The specialist though, did not specifically say that the scratch marks under the mantle were not present in the original crime scene photographs. Nevertheless, Peter Sutherst is one of the UK’s most eminent specialists in this field with over 50 years experience.

Final note:

Jeremy Bamber has large teams of people who work for him, these are from many different backgrounds and countries, some are friends and many others offer their professional services pro-bono and want to see justice done. There is currently a mountain of further evidence which Jeremy Bamber will submit to the CCRC in his fight for freedom. The law must bring those to justice who have fabricated evidence in this case. Not one of us or Jeremy will ever give up until this innocent man is set free and justice is finally done.

The CCRC will inform Jeremy's lawyer of their decision tomorrow morning. Jeremy has said that he expects to hear around 10:30am. It is believed the CCRC will announce the outcome publicly once Jeremy has been told. Mr Andrew Hunter (former MP for Basingstoke) will be giving media interviews on Jeremy's behalf when the announcement has been made. We will tweet as soon as we hear anything. Let's hope justice will be done and Jeremy will get a fresh appeal with evidence that has been denied him for 26 years.

Jeremy's lawyer has been formally told that the CCRC will let him know their decision on Friday morning (11.02.11). The CCRC will make an announcement to the press about their decision after Jeremy has been informed. We will let everyone know on the blogger & @bambertweets as soon as we know. Andrew Hunter will be speaking to various media outlets and issuing a formal statement about the result on Friday.

Jeremy is in very good spirits and is sure they have made a decision to refer his case to the court of appeal. In light of the evidence showing he is innocent there should be no question of a referral.

Today saw the release of further evidence into the media with Channel 4's Johnny Mcdevitt carrying out a thoroughly investigative and strong report into the case evidence in preparation for the CCRC commissioners meeting on Monday 31st January.

There has been an influx of media interest and there is set to be a number of articles in the news over the coming week.

Jeremy is said to be very pleased that some of the evidence has started to surface and he wanted to thank Channel 4 for their accuracy and careful handling in the presentation of material. The evidence presented by Channel 4 is just the beginning of a mountain of documents which have constructed a cast iron case for the Defence. It is now not a matter of if Jeremy is released but when.

The CCRC have stated yesterday that the commissioners will meet as planned on Monday 31st January and are hoping to make a decision at this time. Of course Jeremy is also mindful that the commissioners might not be able to make a decision either way if they require further information and there is always the possibility that a decision may be deferred again.

"It is not easy working and campaigning for someone for almost 26 long years and I wanted to say a very special thank you to those people who have made a huge effort and a very big difference to me over the years these include: Scott Lomax, Mike Teskowski and Tracy Brazier, and in more recent years Tracy Williams, Mark Cropper, Sarah Hanover and other campaigners both old and new who wish to remain nameless but have done so much for me.

I am also aware that it is a heavy burden of responsibility for anyone to carry over a long period and there are a large number of paper documents dispersed across many different counties. This brought the need for an electronic document management system which is primarily for use by my lawyers. The Mark and Sarah are the administrators of this document share have kindly offered their services free of charge to implement a system which would cost thousands and it has been done in a relatively short space of time. They do not carry out research in a way that other campaigners do and their role is purely administrative.

I also wanted Mark & Sarah to web publish the latest evidence presented from my CCRC application on the internet in a user friendly format. They have to work within the restrictions and confines of the law as do my legal team, they cannot link to other web sites which do not meet legal obligations.

My apologies if anyone has been confused by disclaimers recently made on this or any other site which was an oversight on my part and not anyone else. Mark and Sarah strictly adhered to my requests at all times. “Kind thanks to all of my friends and campaigners for the cards sent to me for my 50th birthday. Of course I didn’t ever imagine that would I still be in prison for a crime I didn’t commit on this day but it won’t be long before justice is done and I am released. There are many people who should be arrested and charged with fabricating evidence in my case but despite my requests to Essex Police based on the evidence, still there has been no action taken and they tell me that they await further instruction from the CCRC.

There has been a discovery of a 4 boxes of missing documents and we are keen to get these scanned. The guys at the office have already started sending these through to me and uploading them to the document cloud. I am very keen to see many contemporaneous action reports and property registers as many of these wont have been edited. A large number of statements of course have been edited and the list continues to grow.

The most exciting discovery came not from this new find of documents but from some papers in my own archives which I hadn’t looked at for many years. These logs show the reason why the police re-staged the crime scene over and over but I can’t give out detail on these at the moment.

Our work on Twitter has had profound effects with us receiving emails from different types of media outlets both in the UK and USA alike, we are currently working with new contacts on the latest material in my case. The guys have been tweeting on my behalf and I have also seen print outs of all material which is published on the web by campaigners.

I also wanted to say thanks to some people who have recently become involved in carrying out support in an administrative capacity which has helped enormously in handling the large amount of work which is now in operation.

I await both a decision from the European Court of Human Rights on my whole life tariff and also from the CCRC on the 31st January when I am told the commissioners will meet again.”

"I hope all of my friends and supporters had a great Christmas. I had many cards and letters from all of you which was very kind thank you. 2011 is set to to be the year of my release from prison. There is to be another wave of campaign activity including the release of further evidence into the media. I have also asked the admin's to set up another twitter page for me, I would like all of the twitter profile's set up for me by good friends to link together so that we can re-tweet my tweets. I aim to tweet on a daily basis when I call the office with the latest updates as Mark and Sarah have been kind enough to follow up my requests. In a strategic campaign move I am aiming to use twitter to network with journalists, writers and documentary makers.

My admin team have also taken over responsibility for my documents and have been generous enough to expand the share by many thousands of documents in the the New Year. This means that when there is a referral to the court of appeal my legal team will have full access to referenced documents that would otherwise take weeks to search through in the old paper system, this will make a big difference to the work they will carry out on my behalf.

I also wanted to thank Scott Lomax, Mike Tesko, Tracy Williams, Tracy Brazier and other campaigners who do so much (but wish to remain nameless) for their continued efforts to help me. "Obviously I want the CCRC to come to a decision over my case and it was a little disappointing that they were unable to reach a conclusion during November, but as a consequence of their delay I thought I ought to go through my archived documents, the ones that I’ve found apply to my grounds of appeal. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the case the police claimed that there was only one sound moderator ever found at the farm and it was key to the prosecutions case that the moderator was on the gun while the killings were carried out.

I found a number of additional documents showing how the police had merged the sound moderators SBJ/1 and DRB/1 together. All of this can only have been done with the fabricated evidence of witnesses in this case. One of the prosecution witnesses whose own gun and moderator were kept at the farm, had lied by stating that he had taken them away from the farm and that they were not present on the night of the killings. To have taken the gun and moderator from the farm was breaking the terms of his license, my father being a Justice of the Peace would never have allowed this. And of course we have found numerous documents proving that his moderator (SBJ/1) and gun were at the farm.

In addition to this it also emerges that the Assistant Chief Constable of Essex Police in 1985 told the press in briefings “We recovered a silencer from White House Farm”. The Daily Mirror said “police discovered a blood stained gun silencer at the farm on the day of the massacre.” This would suggest that the police found the moderator at the farm on the day of the killings and not as they would have us believe – that it was found by a witness and handed to them at a later date.

Another point is that the sound moderator was also taken to White House Farm and was photographed at there by police on the 12th of September, but this was impossible as it was also being forensically examined at the lab on the same day because the entry logs for the lab show that the moderator never left the premises. Similarly on the 13th of September the moderator was being examined at Huntingdon Laboratory again, and amazingly it was also at Chelmsford Police Station being examined for finger prints. Another point to make is that the sound moderator was already finger printed on the 23rd August using a ‘Super Glue’ method which leaves a white residue, this is not present in the photographs taken on the 12th of September, yet another sign that the photographs were of a different sound moderator to that which was fingerprinted in August.

The CCRC commissioners are to meet again during December and I am hoping that they will be in a position to make a decision at this time.

National Miscarriage of Justice Day 9th October 2010

If you would like to help Jeremy he is urging supporters to attend the National Miscarriage of Justice Day in London on Saturday the 9th of October 2010. There is a public meeting in Covent Garden with many speakers from 10am and a demo in Trafalgar Square from 5pm onwards.

This is a good time to publicly support Jeremy and the large amount of other people imprisoned for crimes they have not committed. There will be talks from many different people who have their own story to tell, you can mingle and share your experiences of supporting Jeremy and we know that we can all learn from those who have worked through miscarriages of justice before. The organizers are the UAI and they are expecting a lot of people so it will be good to see a large crowd from the ‘Jeremy Bamber’ camp made up of all supporters. Jeremy has made a response to the article published in last week’s Sunday Express by PS Bews one of the officers who met Jeremy at the scene of the tragedy. This is where we see that Bews has further admitted that they all thought they saw someone moving in the window of the bedroom upstairs.

In the House of Commons Priti Patel MP for Witham raised the topic of Jeremy having been granted access to The Sunday Times journalist by the Ministry of Justice which is in line with current laws for prisoners to be able to campaign. Her suggestion that this be brought to an end would violate the human rights of prisoners wrongly convicted. For a News paper to be able to publish anything without receiving libel claims they have to see hard evidence supporting what they report before giving anyone a voice. Ms Patel’s argument is quite simply not valid, the victim of the tragedy is clearly Jeremy Bamber.

It is hoped that this will have opened up the way for debate regarding Jeremy's case as a whole and perhaps will raise some of the issues surrounding the evidence, such as the misuse of PII to keep vital documents from the defence.

Last week saw two posts on HM Government forum site ‘Your Freedom’ Both postings on Jeremy’s case challenged the validity of Jeremy’s conviction and the role of the CCRC in referring cases back to the court of appeal. CRStanding said: “In consequence, innocent people can remain languishing in prison even if the CCRC is presented with evidence of innocence if that evidence was or could have been made available at the time of the original trial.”

CRStanding also made another valid point: "There was no evidence to commit Jeremy Bamber to full life in prison. And now, 25 years later, we see that some so-called evidence was manufactured. The jury were not given the full picture, and it seems, nor was the Home Secretary when he converted the tariff to full life."

There have also been further updates on the Jeremy Bamber blog on Tumblr regarding the Police photographs of Sheila Caffell. There is set to be further news on Jeremy's case in the coming month regarding the inaccurate autopsy carried out on Sheila Caffell.

This week saw the launch of a new web site for Jeremy along with another new blogger designed by independent supporters. Both are light and easy to navigate. The content is also very strong and factually based. Well done guys! Jeremy is really pleased with your efforts.

This Sunday also saw an article in the Express newspaper with an interview from an officer who went to the scene in the first instance. The interview contradicts what the officer said in court as this is the first mention of reflections of the 'moon'. Unfortunately the article didn't cover the other officer's statement which says he saw the figure of a male. More on this in the coming weeks. Jeremy has once again asked for unity among supporters as working together we are a stronger force.

"In case anyone thinks we can rest on our laurels, we really can’t. These last few weeks are the most crucial – it’s about networking. If all of my friends told ten of their friends about this injustice and those ten friends told ten more of their friends about this injustice, and those ten friends told ten more friends about it that would make almost 100,000 people realizing the truth. And if we all shout together even the deafest ears at the CCRC will listen. So what I would like everyone to do is talk about my case. We have loads of things for people to look at on the web from really detailed information to lighter news articles or you tube videos.

So why should I matter or my case matter to the average man or woman in the street? Why would you tell people about me? I wish I could give you a one line, wins every time answer but here’s a few. If the state can lock me up for 25 years, knowing since 1992 that I am completely innocent, yet happily doing nothing about it then imagine how easy it would be for the state to do the same to you?

But on a personal level I really am just the guy next door. I was in many ways a nobody, just a farmer’s son with no connections to political parties or extremist groups, no gang to stand up for me when I was falsely accused and it was my being a nobody that allowed the state to bury me and just as they have done this to me they can do this to anyone.

But my last point about asking for everyone’s help is that if you help me win justice I will show you upon my release how this may change history. I have an amazing story to tell that really is truly fascinating and with everyone’s help you will facilitate my being able to tell it and in the gentle telling of my story my greatest hope is that I can be inspirational on the one hand and on the other be worthy of people's help in all that I go on to do with my life.

All I know is that I will always try to make people proud that they helped win my freedom in all that I do and all that I say because above all else those people who trust me now will never be forgotten as to forget all this, for me would be to fail. I’ve not fought tooth and nail for 25 years for truth and justice to waste my freedom or fail. So please we have a month to do this and you will see that each person really can make a difference. Please take a moment and tell a friend, a moment of your time could mean another lifetime to me".

Jeremy is in good spirits and wants to encourage everyone to keep writing to him even though it is taking much longer for letters to arrive to you all. He wants to thank friends and supporters both old and new for the contact which is vital to him. Don’t worry if you’ve not received a letter for a while Jeremy is fine and hasn’t forgotten about any of you and added that your friendships are greatly valued by him.

The many different groups of people working for Jeremy make up a remarkable legion which is now an unstoppable machine. In his recent letter he has spoken about unity and we want to stress how important the work of all campaigners is in the fight for Jeremy’s freedom.

Further evidence for Sheila Caffell having carried out the killings was released to the media this week this included the missing note inside the Bible which could have been Sheila’s suicide note this issue appeared in the Daily Mirror. Jeremy was also mentioned in the prison magazine ‘Inside Time’. Another article appeared in the Sunday Sport on the 8th of August 2010 this was in response to the Mirror’s claims of exclusivity regarding the call logs published earlier in the week. Jeremy is working with teams to push out more evidence into the public sphere so watch out for further exclusive news articles in the coming weeks, updates will be posted here and linked on the Jeremy Bamber profile on Facebook.

Increased publicity saw further supporters writing direct to Jeremy and the volume of correspondence has made his response to letters a little slower. This week has seen Jeremy's campaign continue with two front page articles from the Daily Mirror's lead Crime Correspondent Jon Clements which accurately and clearly presented the evidence. The first of the two pieces being the strongest focusing on the crucial calls from Nevill Bamber to police which even showed the first Police car being dispatched to WHF a minute before Jeremy's call was made. There was also mention of further evidence, And in the second article The Mirror reports how Jeremy didn't understand his sisters medical condition and felt guilty for not helping her more.

The Mirror head's up what is proven (in all but formality), the greatest miscarriage of justice of our time. This weekend has seen the passing of 25 years since the loss of Jeremy's immediate family and supporters were flocking to his growing number of web sites, blogs and facebooks with messages of support. Jeremy has received mail from a large amount of well wishers and wants to say thanks for everyone's continuing support.

There is set to be persistent media presence with the continued release of evidence through various media sources. The focus will remain on the proof that Sheila Caffell carried out the killings, and the additional evidence showing that Jeremy could not have possibly murdered his family.

Touching on some of this evidence already is the article in The People on Sunday 8th August 2010 by Russell Myers, which again highlights that Sheila Caffell was still alive inside the house whilst Jeremy was outside with Police officers.

Public opionion which is now in Jeremy's favour is applying pressure to the CCRC to make a decision as soon as possible. They have been corresponding with concerned members of the public continually who are requesting information as to why the case has not been referred to the court of appeal with a mountain of compelling evidence now public.

It is time to draw this matter to a close and the release of Jeremy Bamber is now imminent.

Sunday the 18th of July saw the Sunday Sport publish an article on Jeremy’s case which was well written and researched. Jeremy was pleased with the accuracy of the piece written by the Sport’s Assistant Editor Simon Dean. The article came in the early stages of a relentless campaign which is growing in momentum on a daily basis.

Supporters have this week been writing to the media regarding Jeremy’s case and another supporter issued a poster to all media outlets under the title of ‘How did he do it?’ which brings home the reality that Sheila Caffell died much later than 3.30am and also highlights the fact that a time of death for Sheila was never established.

The abundance of anomalies in this case is mounting, and more evidence is planned for release in the coming weeks. If you are astounded at the evidence so far be set to see more fabricated evidence by Essex Police and further documents of Jeremy’s innocence.

Campaign goes from strength to strength

The weekend has seen articles from the Times Magazine and the Sunday Express. David James Smith presented Jeremy and the case in a sensitive manner and focused more on what actually happened than being explicit about the evidence. Nevertheless, the article which consisted of a number of pages including the cover was positive about the case and presented Jeremy in an optimistic light in a style that has never been done before. This article provoked comment from the Daily Telegraph who echoed Jeremy's belief that his relatives had fabricated evidence in order to inherit money from his family's estate.

The significance of the Times Magazine giving Jeremy a voice cannot go unnoticed, as a serious broadsheet newspaper it provided a platform for him to verbalize complaints about the fabricating of evidence by witnesses using their names and the implications of this are huge for Jeremy's campaign. As we all know there is considerable evidence to substantiate his claims including Police documents as seen on the newly launched www.jeremybamber.org

Like supporters, Jeremy was pleased with the Times Magazine article but had hoped it might have focused closer on the evidence available. He, like his campaigners is now calling for the Police to arrest those involved in the fabrication of evidence.

Support on face book continues to grow with the startling number of friends that the new Jeremy Bamber profile has. Sadly the first profile set up by his supporters was removed for unspecified reasons. But that doesn't seem to be stopping the loyal team who have set up again and the friends are growing at pace. The importance of this profile cannot go unnoticed as it pushes case data right into friends status updates increasing public awareness of this unfair conviction. From the status updates it also appears that they have been inundated with friend requests from concerned individuals along with messages from well wishers. They must be up until very late accepting friend requests!

Taking their lead from the Sunday Express, (who also reported the findings of Peter Sutherst) the local newspaper in York, near HM Full Sutton where Jeremy Bamber is held gave credence to the fact that Jeremy has now officially been allowed to interact with supporters who operate facebook sites for him.

The number of supporters who wrote to the media last week was high and the papers have noted that there is public concern, supporters are encouraged to continue to do so, some of whom are including Michael Howard who was Home Secretary when he ordered an investigation to be carried out as it is now proven that both the PCC and the COLP had uncovered the truth but duped the Home secretary into believing there had been nothing untoward in this case.

Jeremy appreciates all of the support from people who have written to him and to the people who make decisions over his future. But he is not home yet and we have to keep on working to make a difference. There will be a number of articles in the media over the coming weeks so watch this space and do everything you can to help get Jeremy home soon thank you.

"At my trial Judge Drake gave a minimum tariff, and providing that during your jail you do nothing wrong that is how long you do. I was given 25 years. This was then sent to the Lord Chief Justice to be rubber stamped. Lord Lane said he agreed with the 25 year tariff.

So as far as I was concerned I had to serve 25 years and I’d be let out on parole to serve my life license outside. Very few lifers are kept in forever. When I got my life sentence most lifers then were serving between 8 and 12 years, so 25 years was massive.

Eleven years into my sentence I was called up to the psychology office in Long Lartin, about 8 different people were there and it was very odd. The number one Governor said ‘I don’t know how to break this to you but Michael Howard, (who was Home Secretary at the time) has ruled that you must die in jail.’

I appealed this ruling last year and I knew that the appeal court would not act on this as it was too political so they kicked it up the line to The European Court who have now agreed to prioritise my case. It means that my hearing should be very soon as my conviction is spent in only a few months time.

For me winning this ruling will just confirm how cruel the authorities are telling a man he is to die in jail as hope is what keeps the human spirit alive – without hope there is nothing. It is only because I am strong that I can and could see beyond the action of Michael Howard in telling me my last breath would be staring at a prison door".

25th Anniversary of the killings

With the 25th anniversary of the killings on 7th August 2010 there is set to be a media storm over the unfair conviction of Jeremy Bamber. The cover of the Sunday Times magazine is set to kick off a number of articles and television programmes reviewing the evidence in the Bamber case.

This comes amid a flurry of activity on the internet including supporters of Bamber voicing their concerns to MP's in their thousands. There has been a large amount of activity through the social networking site Facebook including the group 'Jeremy Bamber is Innocent' lead by campaigner Tracy Brazier Holloway.

Look out for articles on the case in all forms of media at a time when the CCRC are due to start their decision making process. We are all hoping they will make a referral to the court of appeal in light of evidence recently submitted which shows all the evidence of the silencer in this case to be fabricated.

Jeremy is in good spirits at this time and is hoping for a speedy referral back to the appeal court.

MOJ back down over FaceBook

As of 17th June the Ministry of Justice have allowed Jeremy to have conversation with anyone who operates a facebook site supporting him. For 14 months in all communications Jeremy was unable to discuss anything to do with Facebook with his supporters.

It was only after pursing legal action that the Ministry agreed to Jeremy's communication and involvement in Facebook. Jeremy is 'delighted' about this as the group is valuable as an outlet for his campaign and also as a forum where supporters can discuss issues over the evidence.

The campaign is going from strength to strength with the launch of Jeremy's blogger and this site coupled with his official site, things are really taking shape for one last push to get an innocent man to freedom!

“ I started off at Norwich where I spent 5 months, then Brixton where I stayed till my trial 7 months later. After my conviction I went to Wormwood Scrubs where I stayed for just over 2 years.

Then Full Sutton, I left here in 1990 and went to Gartree. One year there, then Frankland, 18 months there, then Long Lartin – back to Frankland for 6 Months, then Long Lartin – 4 Months there then Full Sutton, back to Long Lartin a year later – 3 months and then to Woodhill, 4 months there, then Wakefield, just over a year there. Then Durham, then Whitemoor - a couple of years there. Then Belmarsh where I spent 4 months in 2002.

Then after my appeal back to Whitemoor for 3 months , then back to Full Sutton where I’ve spent almost 9 years. I’ve had lots of short trips to Belmarsh for various court appearances over the years where I’ve spent 4 or 5 days in London. I’ve also had an extra few months in Whitemoor but I can’t recall when that was in the sequence as I know I’ve been there 3 times. In total over 25 years I’ve slept in 122 different cells.

So I have spent almost half my jail time in Full Sutton so I know it well and this time I have spent all my time working in the Braille shop which I love. “

"Guilty as hell?"

This article was recently published in the Essex Newspaper, The Daily Gazette.

It's interesting that David Boutfour (Bamber's Cousin) has mistakenly said that "Some months after the horror he found a silencer in a gun cupboard at the house" because in court he testified that he found the silencer on the 10th August, just three days after the killings.

The new evidence submitted to the CCRC shows that the scratches made by the silencer in the mantle were not present in the photographs taken immediately after the killings, but only in those taken 34 days after. There are also additional documents which support the findings of Mr Peter Suthurst the court sepcialist.

Now in my particular case I am wholly innocent of the crimes that I was convicted of and have been fighting my case since I first came to prison, since I was first arrested. . . "
